  1. Feb 26,  · I first met Gerry through working with the band Stealers Wheel (Right or wrong album) At the time I did "City to City" I was touring with Jack Bruce, so I was playing in that slightly harder Rock blues style, which worked well with the songs. Gerry looked at the songs in a number of different ways before deciding on the final arrangement/5().
  2. The "The Right Down the Line" anthology CD provides a more complete view of Gerry's solo career, but only contains three tracks from "City to City". Furthermore, "Right Down the Line" includes a remixed version of "Baker Street". It is hard to improve on the original recording and IMHO the remix is inferior to the "City to City" version/5().
  3. Gerry Rafferty ‎– City To City Label: United Artists Records ‎– 4C, United Artists Records ‎– 4C /5(7).
  4. Domestic valentine "Right Down the Line" snugly followed to the height of the charts, and third release, "Home and Dry," while not of an immortal status, stands as a quality song. He even stomps out a smooth hoedown on the title track. Rafferty's turns of phrase and tight composition skills create a fresh sound and perspective all his own.9/
  5. Tracklist: 1. The Ark, 2. Baker Street, 3. Right Down The Line, 4. City To City, 5. Stealin’ Time, 6. Mattie’s Rag, 7. Whatever’s Written In Your Heart, 8. Home.
  6. " Right Down the Line " is a song written and recorded by Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. Released as a single in mid, it reached #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot and #8 on Cash Box. It was the third release from Rafferty's City to City LP as the follow-up to his first major hit as a solo artist, " Baker Street ".
  7. Right Down the Line: The Best of Gerry Rafferty is an imperfect track collection of the singer/songwriter's '70s and '80s albums that favors obscure album tracks to actual hits. Of course, his biggest solo hits, "Baker Street" and "Right Down the Line," are here, but instead of featuring his other lesser hits, the collection draws from his albums, and it doesn't necessarily pick the best.
  8. Issued in , City to City is the Scottish singer/songwriter's sophomore album which peaked at #1 on the charts on the strength of the timeless classics "Baker Street," "Right Down The Line," "City To City" and "Home And Dry.".
  9. and several of the same musicians, but a similar un-self-pitying fatalism pervades the record. However, there is a slight but significant change for the better that makes City to City as eloquently consoling as the spirituals Rafferty echoes in "Whatever's Written in Your Heart." Indeed, there's a prayerful quality to the entire LP, a quality reminiscent of the dim dawn after a dark night of.
